A Milford man and three juveniles were arrested after they allegedly broke into a Catholic church early Friday morning and destroyed property once inside, police said.
Michael Clifford, 21, and the three other suspects, who were not identified because of their ages, face charges that include trespassing, breaking and entering, and causing injury to a church over $5,000, Milford police said in a statement.
The suspects were also charged with a civil rights violation.
The four allegedly broke into St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church on Winter Street, destroyed two doors and several sacramental items, and “committed desecrating acts against constitutional religious freedoms and protections,” the statement said.Jackson Cote can be reached at email@example.com.
