Assemblywoman Eloise Gómez Reyes will lead the unveiling of a bronze Rosa Parks Statue in front of the Rosa Parks Memorial Building at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2.
The building is at 464 W. Fourth St., San Bernardino.
Parks famously refused to give up her seat in the “white section” of a bus on Dec. 1, 1955, in Montgomery, Ala., making an icon of the civil rights movement.
The Rosa Parks Statue was funded by the 2017 state budget.
“Working together with community partners and the hovernor, I was able to secure the final funding needed for this iconic statue,” said Reyes, D-San Bernardino. “The 47th Assembly District is honored to recognize the first lady of the civil rights movement and we are confident her statue will be a beacon of hope for those yearning for change.”
